Massachusetts Rustic Wedding in the Fall
I first met Kelly and Chris back at our old house in Norton. They lived and worked in school system there, which gave us an easy connection to get the conversation going. Also, they were going to book one of my favorite venues, Terrydiddle Farm. To start, they loved how it had a perfect Massachusetts rustic wedding feel. Additionally, it’s close to home and this meant it would be easy to celebrate with everyone they loved most. Pictures were not really at the top of their list, so they definitely wanted someone they felt comfortable with.
We talked for a long time from schools, to sports and of course we talked about their dog Dobby! I knew immediately that I would have to meet this Dobby, because well it’s a Harry Potter reference. Kelly and Chris are an adorable couple! From what I could see they really listened to each other, made each other smile and also made each other laugh. They were on the same page for what they wanted their wedding day to look like and the feel they wanted. It was important to them that their guests had fun. So Terrydiddle with their lawn games, fit pit and sprawling property, would give them just that! When looking for a Massachusetts rustic wedding venue, there are a few in the area. But really none give this same laidback atmosphere and provide the fun elements for your guests like Terrydiddle does.
Because they wanted to make sure they were comfortable with me on the wedding day, they took me up on their engagement session. Many couples who don’t like to be in front of the camera will try to pass on this part of their package. If you’re wondering if you should do an engagement session, check out this blog. The couple decided to do a winter engagement session, which was a lot of fun with their dog Dobby. We did the session close to their home, so we could meet after school and after one of the snow storms. It was tricky to plan, but we were able to catch a pretty good storm and then let it melt a bit, so we could actually walk through it! After that, they realized pictures wouldn’t be too bad on their wedding day!
When they big day arrived, I met the girls at the wedding venue to have Kelly get ready. The girls wore beautiful burgundy dresses and had jean jackets to help keep them warm. The flowers were artificial and absolutely perfect for the rustic wedding vibe! Kelly had her hair down with a gorgeous braid to accentuate her golden hair color. Chris was going to lose it when he saw how stunning she looked! We were able to do some fun photos of the girls before the guys arrived. The guys started at the hotel and my second photographer Jamey got to take the getting ready shots there. Once the guys made it to the venue, we got some great shots of the guys jumping, doing the ymca and inside joke pictures with each groomsmen and Chris.
Once the ceremony began, Chris’ reaction said it all. A jaw drop to the ground as the barn door opened to reveal Kelly and her dad. It was really sweet to see how genuinely happy everyone was in that moment. There were some amazing laughs during the ceremony and non stop smiles for the couple. After the ceremony, we did all their family photos, bridal party and their formal portraits. We snagged some with the horses and had time to do the couple’s requested group shots. The best part about this Massachusetts rustic wedding venue is the property. So it was easy to capture candids with the guests and requests for photos as you walk around to see what everyone is engaging in. From corn hole to jenga, there is usually a competition of some sorts to watch and wait for the moment to happen.
I loved the way that Chris and Kelly structured their wedding too. They did all their dances right at the beginning and toasts after that. It such a nice way for you to be done with the formalities and then enjoy the time with your friends and family. During the toasts, we were delighted to Kelly’s sister rapping a Hamilton version of Chris and Kelly’s relationship. It was absolutely incredible to listen to and catch the guests reactions. After that, the happy couple was able to mingle with their guests and they get the dance floor started after dinner.
It was a perfect Fall night for a wedding! Wishing Kelly and Chris an amazing life together and lots of laughs with each other and Dobby!
xoxo,
Moe
