Romantic late summer mansion wedding in Rhode Island
Blithewold is the perfect location if you’re planning a romantic late summer mansion wedding! Firstly the sunsets are incredible, the gardens are still blooming, and the weather- well… you never know 🙂
Lauren and Chris planned an awesome Thursday night wedding for their closest friends and family in September. Thursday night you say? Well why not! Their friends and family traveled in from near and far to celebrate all weekend long. It was absolutely one of the most fun weddings I’ve been to!
We started the day at the hotel where Lauren looked absolutely beautiful, with her natural curls slightly pulled back. Her dress had a subtle sparkle in its’ lace. Her best friends helped her get ready. Lauren’s mom and Chris’ mom smiled so happily as they watched and helped with accessories. My second photographer stayed with the guys down the hall. They had some laughs and relaxed with some drinks. It was Chris’ dad and brother who helped him get ready, so some special moments for them.
They both wrote a beautiful note to each other, which although brought tears, it added to the excitement to get to their first look. But first, Lauren did a first look with dad and he was so proud! He beamed from ear to ear! Unfortunately, the rain came in on their wedding day, and we had to plan for Chris and Lauren’s first look to be inside. Obviously, when planning a romantic late summer mansion wedding, you want to capture the gorgeous venue too! So we really lucked out, having that secondary option of being inside. We used the staircase and had Lauren come down the stairs to meet Chris on the landing. It’s a perfect spot for both photographers to capture reactions! After that we used more of the inside for their portraits and hoped that the rain stopped at some point.
The ceremony was luckily under the patio so everyone was able to stay dry. The back patio made for a great spot for family pictures as well. When the rain stopped, we grabbed some pictures quickly outside by the garden. But the sprinkles started again, so we made our way over to get ready for the reception.
Cue the waterworks and laughs at the reception. Both fathers gave such heartfelt, meaningful speeches. It was incredible to listen to their stories and see everyone’s emotions as it unfolded. Lauren’s best friend and Chris’s brother gave hilarious yet sweet speeches that only proved further what a wonderful couple they are. As the party started, I convince Lauren and Chris to go out in the rain to do some night shots. We stopped at the moon gate and then used the barn to set up some epic rain/night shots. Afterwards, the couple danced all night to some epic music by Tim from Event Perfect Entertainment.
I love the event team at Blithewold so much! They are so easy to work with and make the day run perfectly! Because of the rain, they told us we should come back and do wedding portraits another day. So the gorgeous couple got redressed a few weeks later on a gorgeous night to do some additional portraits on the grounds. You’ll see some stunners as you look through!
Enjoy some of my favorites from this amazing wedding!
