Fall wedding at historic venue on the South Shore
When I first met Sophie and her mom, they excitedly talked about the upcoming plans for her wedding day. After having a ceremony at First Parish Church in Kingston, MA, they were planning on having the reception at the historic venue, Winslow House in Marshfield, MA. When I asked why they chose this venue, Sophie’s mom told me that her and her husband were married there. How fun to have your daughter marry at the same location! Sophie loved the historic venue for the gardens and unique old world look. The wedding guest list had family coming in from all over, some not having seen each other in a very long time.
Sophie beamed when she talked about her hubby to be, Lucas. She loved how natural my images made people look and was excited see more of my work. I really loved getting to know her and see what she expected of me when it came to her pictures. I could picture the stunning gown she showed me in black and white images. All the while, giving her classic and timeless images to fit with the historic venue feel. I was excited when Sophie’s mom came back later that night to book me! I felt like this wedding was going to be very special!
When we talked about the timeline, Sophie was very nervous. She didn’t feel like she wanted getting ready pictures, but I convinced them to let me come just take some detail pictures. Just a few to add to their wedding album and set the scene for the day. I really like getting to see the bride before everything starts. It is nice to say hello and get everyone ready for the camera being around!
Next, after leaving the house, I arrived to a wonderful scene at First Parish Church. There many relatives were seeing each other for the first time in so long! The embraces and smiles were abundant! After everyone took their seats, Lucas became very emotional. It was so sweet to see Sophie’s dad comfort him, just as she snuck in behind him to line up. With tears in his eyes, he made his way down the aisle to wait. Sophie and her dad were so nervous, but Sophie’s grandmother gave everyone a good laugh to start the calmness. First Parish Church has an awesome balcony to take shots from above, so we were able to capture different angles and catch the smiles as the nerves set aside.
In an almost old fashioned manner, Sophie and Lucas whisked off to the limo to have a moment alone and off we went their historic venue!
The reception at Winslow House has a tent next to the old house and it’s garden. The fields and other old structures offer fun spots to take wedding images. The courtyard on the other side of the historic venue, provides a perfect spot for family photos away from the guests as well. The sunset is perfect over the house in the fall, which gave us some gorgeous glow on Sophie. The two look so so happy together. They immediately laugh and giggle with each other when no one is around them. Their love was infectious and made everyone enjoy the celebration! Friends and family alike packed the dance floor for a fun filled night.
